Who we are
Kaila
Originally from Vermont, Kaila trained in musical theatre before building a career in hospitality and the Italian wine industry.
Today, she leads the creative direction of Vero—from the interiors and guest experience to the brand, marketing, and carefully curating the trusted local partners and on-site experiences that have become synonymous with a stay at Poggio Belvedere.
She's constantly refining every detail, selecting only the people, places, and experiences that she and Ludovico would genuinely love themselves, ensuring every stay feels thoughtful, seamless, and deeply connected to Italy.
Ludovico
Born and raised in Lake Como, Ludovico brings an Italian eye for design, craftsmanship, and hospitality to everything Vero creates.
With a background in high-end furniture and kitchen design, he oversaw the renovation of Poggio Belvedere, transforming a forgotten estate into the place it is today.
Now he manages everything behind the scenes that allows each stay to feel effortless. From maintaining the estate and managing operations to ensuring every arrival runs seamlessly, he's the quiet force behind the scenes who makes everything feel easy. His passion for discovering remarkable restaurants and hidden local favourites means many of our guests' favourite meals come from recommendations only a local would know.
Why we created Vero
When we imagined Vero, we weren’t thinking about creating another beautiful place to stay. We were thinking about the kind of Italian experience we would want ourselves. One where beautiful accommodation is only the beginning. Where every recommendation is personal. Where one day might be spent learning to make fresh pasta beside the pool, the next sharing lunch at a family-run winery, and another discovering a tiny artisan workshop you'd never have found on your own.
